What is Shamanism?

Shamanism is a practice that involves a practitioner to interact with the spirit world reaching altered states of consciousness. Channeling (holding space and prayer) for these transcendental energies into the world for healing. Traveling  to the spirit world or alternate realities they retrieve power, energy and wisdom that can be used for the betterment of their people. Shamans have expanded sensory perception and a spiritual relationship to nature and unseen realities.

For the Shaman the ability to heal comes from the elements and helping spirits. Indigenous shamans teach that nature can balance, revitalize and shift consciousness.

What is Shamanic Reiki?

Shamanic Reiki is the weaving and merging of two timeless ancient wisdom teachings. Creating practical approaches to modern day illness of the body, mind and spirit. In Shamanic Reiki the practitioner becomes an open vessel for the Universal Life Force Energy to flow through. Connecting to nature allies and guides. Journeying to altered states of consciousness, with their spirit guides, to empower and heal illness and trauma in this life or past life.

About Shamanism

Shamanism is one of the oldest forms of spirituality that exists today. It predates any organized religion. Its roots are buried thousands of years in our past. When first accounts were documented anthropologists discovered that shamans in cultures separated by thousands of miles and without knowledge of one another had each developed healing and ceremonial approaches that were almost identical. Shamans call upon the essential forces of nature such as the winds, sacred plants , smoke, rocks, animals, fire and rivers for healing. They call in helping spirits, release harmful energies and balance energies through the vibration of drums, bells, rattles, movement, chanting and other methods.

Shamanism was evolved by those connected to something greater than them.

During the past few decades, there’s been a major interest and rebirth of the practice of Shamanism in North America and Europe. The wisdom is longer being contained within native villages.

The spike in interest is due to the simple fact that the wisdom enhances a person’s ability to seek and find their own answers to life. The medicine has been proven to work and is profound.

We are asking you to be open to wisdom that has been safely practiced for thousands of years. This wisdom teaches us that nature can balance and restore. It can shift consciousness; it opens us to invisible and intrinsic energies that most of us are unaware of.

We each descend from shamanic people, expanding consciousness, healing ourselves and living in harmony with the earth is our birthright and responsibility. The power is within.

What is a Shaman?

A Shaman is someone who travels to the spirit world or alternate realities to retrieve power, energy and wisdom that can be used for wellness and wisdom. Shamans were not only healers of their communities, but powerful agents of change, mediators between the physical and spirit worlds, and those who were responsible for keeping balance between people and nature.

Shamans have expanded sensory perception and a deeply connected relationship with nature and the “unseen” reality. The truths of shamanism are discovered through direct personal relationships. Teachings and techniques are often secondary to firsthand knowing as power derives from feeling, experience and a deep attunement with natural forces.

The word shaman originated with the Tungus people of Siberia and other terms are used throughout the world. The title shaman was typically given by the blessing of elders or community members after years of apprenticeship

It’s helpful to understand that just as Tibetan Buddhism has evolved and been influenced by cultures it penetrated, shamanism also adapts to present-day needs. While we dont believe that a person can become a full-fledged shaman in one or even several weeks, anyone can be a shamanic practitioner. Shamanism is innate and despite not living in cultures that recognize and support the journey of initiation, we all experience them. It’s our choice to walk though when spirit opens the door.

What is alternate reality?

Shamanism is founded on the non-hierarchical view that all life, not just human life, has consciousness. The intelligence that infuses life empowers the shaman to transmute disease and harmonize imbalances.

The spirit world interfaces ours and everything within it can be communicated and interacted with.

How to access alternate reality?

There are many ways to achieve this and one being a shamanic journey. By relaxing, closing your eyes and listening to a rhythmic beat, a light trance-state is induced.  Similar to the hypnotic state in which images appear in your mind’s eye just before falling asleep. The Australian Aboriginal people called this the tasmic state referring to the dreamtime. Shamans believe the dream is everything in our world; that everything in our world originates from a spiritual plane of energy that can be engaged with for healing and change. Once you close your eyes, simply open your mind and allow yourself to daydream. We set our intention to go on a shamanic journey, a conscious daydream fueled by our imagination.

When attempting to go into a journey space on your own, ask your helping spirits to guide you. Imagine yourself at the base of a tree. Maybe you will see, feel or be at the base of another space. Trust and use the inherent wisdom within you. As you breathe into the tree or other space imagine your breath taking you deeper and deeper into the earth.

Allow your thoughts, judgements and ego to be suspended until you return. What is most important is your experience and what’s valid and true for you.

Be creative in this space, the power of your imagination is what will guide you.

How you arrive is not important. Because the spirit world is mutable and fueled by the power of your imagination, anything is possible. Eventually you’ll come out somewhere and when you do, you’ll be in an alternate reality.

Look at or sense what’s around you. Try to determine where you are. Everyone’s journey is different, yet each will find they are exactly where they need to be. Everything that appears to you in the spirit world is intelligent, sentient and can be communicated and interacted with.

Your connection to this process will deepen through time and commitment.

Don’t expect the answers to come in a foreign voice. Spirit usually answers in your own voice or through metaphor, symbols, archetypes or mythological symbols. Sometimes we don’t hear anything or see images at all, but sense or intuit the answers, or experience our guides on levels beyond visual, verbal or mental communication.

When we relax our ego the energy flows. Shamans simply channel or open access to spiritual energies to benefit others. The ability to heal comes from the elements and helping spirits.
